For many Christians, the word meditation might bring to mind monks living in the wilderness, new age religions, or serious yogis with a lot of time on their hands. But we actually find the concept of meditation for christian believers all throughout the Bible. A Christian meditation app is a perfect tool for helping believers incorporate meditation into their quiet time with God.

Life can be busy and it’s easy to let your time alone with God slip through the cracks. As a busy mom of two young kids, I too have struggled to find the time to develop a spiritual practice in the craziness of life. A Christian meditation app has helped me to find moments in my day to reconnect with God, meditate on His Word, and refocus on what matters most.

This post is all about the 5 best Christian meditation app options that will help you incorporate peaceful time with God throughout each day.

Short on time? As a busy mom, I believe Soulspace is the best Christian meditation app on the market right now. With its simplified interface and mix of meditation and scripture, it’s the perfect tool to help you set your mind and heart on God.

What is Christian meditation?

Although meditation as a Christian hasn’t been super common in the modern American church, many different Christian traditions have practiced Christian meditation throughout history – including Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant denominations.

What makes Christian mindfulness and meditation different is that the focus is on centering your mind and heart on God and scripture. Instead of just attempting to empty your mind and thoughts, Christian meditation is a form of prayer. The goal is to fill your mind with God’s truth and reflect on His promises. This time of contemplation and reflection helps you deepen your relationship with God and increase your spiritual awareness.

Meditation for Christians

Christian meditation can involve reflecting on scripture, prayer and contemplation, quiet reflection, deep breathing and more. Each method can help you to deepen your faith and understanding of God, and to cultivate a sense of inner peace and spiritual connectedness.

As an added bonus, Christian meditation is a great way to combat issues like anxiety, depression, fear, sleeplessness and so much more – not to mention it’s FREE to do!

What does the Bible say about meditation?

But what does the Bible have to say about meditation?

Is meditation for christian believers actually biblical and is it something that we should be incorporating into our spiritual practice? I’m glad you asked!

Here are a few verses from The Bible that discuss or mention meditation:

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” – Joshua 1:8

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.” – Psalm 1:1-2

“I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways.” – Psalm 119:15

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.” – Psalm 19:14

From these verses, it’s pretty clear that the Bible encourages believers to meditate on God’s Word and his works to deepen their understanding of God and draw closer to Him. It’s also evident that meditation is a way for us to stay focused on God’s ways and to live a life of peace and hope. Interested in incorporating meditation into your daily practice? Best Christian meditation app options

In today’s digital age, there are so many apps available that can help Christians to meditate and deepen their faith. After a little market exploration and research, these are the best apps I’ve found for Christian meditation, mindfulness, and reflection. If you’re interested, check them out and let me know what you think!

1. Abide – Christian Meditation

The Abide christian meditation app is definitely the most popular faith-based meditation app on the market right now, and for good reason! They offer hundreds of guided meditations based on scripture that come with a variety of topics and meditation lengths. You even have a few different options for your voice narrator. The app also features a variety of meditation styles and introduces you to things like breath prayer, centering prayer, and lectio divina. In the app, you’ll find everything from meditations for sleep to ones covering anxiety, forgiveness, gratitude, and more.

I personally love that you don’t have to create an account or sign in to use the app unless you want to keep track of your progress. This Christian meditation app is free and offers a lot inside, including featured Bible reading plans. In fact, there’s so many options here that it can feel a little overwhelming at first. Even still, for meditation beginners, Abide is a super beginner friendly way to explore meditation for the first time. Don’t feel like downloading the app? They also have a daily podcast for meditations featuring some of their meditations!

The Abide Christian Meditation app has a free version with shorter meditations and a $39.99 per year subscription that gives you access to daily devotionals and a library of 1500+ meditations. You can learn more and get started at https://abide.com.

2. Soulspace

If you’re looking for a clean but inviting, simplified interface, Soulspace might be the christian meditation app for you. This specific app lets you use it as a guest without an account, so you can get started with it right away. A great no frills option without a lot of bells and whistles, the Soulspace homepage features one daily meditation with a long and short version and a daily wallpaper based on the meditation for your phone.

With their plus version you can read the meditations. They have a wide list of themed meditations but many are only accessible with a membership. At $28.99 per year the price seems fairly reasonable. They also have an audio version of the Bible in the app. Bedtime songs and scriptures and calming meditations for kids.

The Soulspace app offers a free version with short daily meditations. For access to their longer meditations and their full meditation library, a subscription is $28.99 per year. They also offer a one-time lifetime subscription for $139.99 if you know you love it and will use it long-term. You can get started at https://soulspace.co.

3. Pray.com

Pray.com is a little less of a sole meditation app and more of a well-rounded spiritual app for Christians. Inside you’ll find daily devotions and reading plans, Bible verses, prayers and guided meditations. Pray.com has a little more of a social focus on following friends and popular “Inspirational Voices” which I don’t love. There is a good amount of additional content inside the app. that can be easily distracting from the reason you logged on in the first place. But if you’re looking for more of a social experience and a well-rounded source of support on your faith walk, Pray.com may be a good fit for you! Users can also participate in prayer groups and connect with other Christians through the app. There’s a good selection of worship msuic that you can listen to during your quiet time with a few dozen meditative prayer plans available within the app.

The Pray.com app gives you full access to all its features free for 7 days. After that, the full experience is $7.99/month. Get started with the app at http://pray.com.

4. Soultime Christian Meditation

Soultime is a Christian meditation app that promises to help Christians with their sleep, stress, and emotional health. Their app offers over 500 different guided meditations with new content released daily. Some of the highlights include meditations on peace, forgiveness, anxiety, sleep, and gratitude. The app also includes the Bible and optional Bible reading plans.

What helps Soultime to really stand out is that in addition to the meditations they offer, this Christian meditation app focuses a lot more on creating a personalized experience for users. The app experience kicks off with a personality test and they include a mood tracker that helps to guide your meditations and the in-app experience.

These additional features make it a great Christian meditation app for anxiety. Users have the option to invite friends to use the app and get insight into their friends meditation activity. Soultime also gives you the option of daily reflections and reminders to help you stay on track with your meditation practice.

After a 7-day free trial, Soultime is $59.99/year or $19.99 quarterly. While there is a free version of the app, it does seem like very few of the meditations are available without a subscription. You can check out all that Soultime has to offer at https://www.soultime.com.

5. Glorify app

The Glorify app focuses specifically on the idea of Daily Worship – the investment you spend into your relationship with God each day. On your home screen in the app each day, you’ll find a daily scripture passage, devotional and a short reflection or meditation to go along with your reading.

Glorify is a great Christian meditation app for sleep because you can use filters to find scripture readings, meditations declarations, prayers and more all centered around sleep directly in the free version of the app. With an option for journaling, creating a prayer room, listening to worship music and more, Glorify is a great platform if you’re looking for support and tools for a more well-rounded spiritual life.

The Glorify app offers a pretty number of features and meditations in their free plan. To unlock unlimited access to all the content, a subscription is $6.99 a month. You can take a look for yourself at https://glorify-app.com.
