We’re Having A Baby and It’s A _______ !
So the site has been down for a bit whileΒ I did some revamping and reflecting on what I actually want to be doing here. Itβs been a busy last few months, so we have a lot to catch up on!
Letβs get started, shall we?
Β
A BabyΒ Announcement
First things first: Cole and I are having a baby BOY!!
Thatβs right folks. When you read this, Iβll beΒ 21 weeks pregnant, and weβre elatedΒ to welcome our first (non-furry) little one into the world at the beginning of March.
Some of you may remember that earlier this year I posted Am I Ready To Be A Parent.Β Well, within 2 months we found ourselves saying βYou know what, letβs just go for it and see what happens!β
We have so many friends facing fertility issues lately that we knew it was high possibility it could take awhile for us. So why not go ahead and get started with the trying?Β Needless to say,Β God worked things out real quick, so weβre doing this!
And really, for all the horror stories Iβve been told pregnancy so far has not been too bad at all.
Sure there was nausea at the beginning, but thatβs cleared away in recent weeks.
We havenβtΒ done much preparation yet, asΒ our weekends have beenΒ filled with home repairs of other kinds. (This is a topic for another day!) But the thought of getting started soon is exciting.
Plus weβve already received someΒ offers for babysitting when weβre ready. WIN!
Forward Into the Unknown
Lately Iβve realizedΒ that forΒ some, this life update may have come as a bit of a shock, so I wanted to quickly address that.

Anyone who knows me knows Iβm not necessarily a βbaby person.β
I didnβt babysitΒ for cash growing up. Also, when people bring their newborns around Iβve been known to take extra long bathroom breaks until itβs over. Iβm just more comfortable around kidsΒ who are old enough to have a conversation, thank you very much!
For all those reasons,Β this has led to a lot of questions about if weΒ βmeant to do this.β
And at first I couldnβt help but feel a bit hurt and offended by those questions. Of course we meant to do this!Β But Iβve realized it was ridiculous of me to feel offense. The overflow and outpouring weβve received from our family and friends (even the very surprised ones) has still been more than we could have asked for.
So yes, there will probably always be that quiet little voice in my head like, βAre you REALLY ready for this?!β (Queue Jock Jams). But I think thatβs 100% normal.
Yes, we know a child is a lot of work.
It will get expensive, and it will change our lives.
Yes, we are actually old enough (29 and 27 respectively).
And we feel confident that with Godβs help we can do this.
It is an honor and a blessing to have the chance to be a parent.
So with that Iβll say, March 8thβ¦ we will be ready for you!

Have tips, tricks and thoughts for preparing for and welcoming a new baby? I WOULD SERIOUSLY LOVE TO HEAR THEM ALL! Drop me a note in the comments. Β <3 Abby
SO EXCITING!!!!!!
Well, I don’t have any tips for raising a baby – but I will come over and snuggle YOUR SON whenever you need a break. So excited for you three (and Izzy, of course).
I would LOVE that! Hahha thank so much Colleen! π
Loved this! For the record I was the same way about kids. …and still kind of am when it comes to other people’s children but you see I have 3 now so I liked parenting much more than I expected ha β€οΈ So excited for y’all and enjoying watching the journey. You look beautiful!
That is seriously so comforting Laura. lol I’m hoping we’ll enjoy it more and more the longer we do it. π Thank you so much!
I DID babysit for money against my will growing up and HATED it. Lol. I worked in OB 2 years before Parker was born, and even though the babies were cute and cuddly, they were also so fussy and inconsolable and I thought, “am I going to be able to handle this?! They are so…annoying!” But when it’s your own baby it’s like no other love, as I’m sure you’ve heard. π Cannot wait to see you become a mother and love on that lucky little boy! And you look awesome pregnant. π
That is seriously so comforting to hear. I’m counting on liking my own kids more than anyone’s. lol Thank you so much Natalie! Also, have I mentioned you have THE cutest kids??
Abby – Brian and I are right there with you, preparing for this new stage of life! We are due in the middle of November and are trying to mentally and practically prepare ourselves. We’ll be praying for the 2 of you as you get ready for your little man!
Yes I’ve been watching his updates on Instagram! You guys will be such great parents and I’m so excited for you. π I’ll be praying for you too. So exciting!
